The Position:
The appointed Mechanical Engineer will:
- Provide mechanical scope of work packages for engineering contractors.
- Initiate and coordinate equipment data sheets for all major equipment items.
- Support engineering contractor needs, including responding to RFI’s.
- Review engineering contractor Mechanical Packages including isometrics, pipe supports, P&ID’s, Specialty Items, Line List, Tie-Points List, etc.
- Develop and ensure completion of Project Line Lists, including coordinating with Lead Process Engineer and establishing test pressures.
- Collaborate with Plant Operations and Maintenance groups to ensure Plant preferences are followed for equipment selection/maintainability, manual valves, gaskets, flange hardware coating, etc.
- Develop QA/QC requirements for piping and equipment.
- Apply company best practices to slurry piping design.
- Identify need for piping stress analysis based on established criteria.
- Communicate detail design needs for internal projects with Mechanical Designer
- Identify & communicate opportunities for project execution improvement and develop solutions that improve the safety, efficiency, quality, and maintainability of the mechanical engineering process.
Requirements:
- A minimum bachelors’ degree in mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in piping projects
- Experience and knowledge with pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, mixers, conveyors, and dryers used in the chemical processing industry.
- Construction and/or commissioning experience
- Piping QA/QC experience
