A leading provider of integrated project delivery services is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) projects for clients in the mining and resource sectors.
The Position:
This is an exciting opportunity to manage projects from initial design to commissioning and turnover, ensuring successful delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful applicant will lead challenging and rewarding projects in the mining and resource sectors, working with a dedicated team committed to excellence, with key responsibilities being to:
- Define project battery limits, charters, and desired outcomes.
- Develop and review project proposals and execution plans, ensuring alignment with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Identify opportunities to expand project scope and negotiate changes with clients through a structured change management process.
- Assemble and lead cross-functional teams, leveraging internal and external resources.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely project delivery.
- Mentor and support the development of junior project managers and project services staff.
- Oversee all phases of project scope, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
- Ensure schedule and financial targets are met, proactively addressing risks and opportunities.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships to resolve project challenges effectively.
- Provide strong HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) leadership.
- Lead safety reviews and risk mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive a culture of proactive risk management to ensure project success.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with all project stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings, prepare formal reports, and provide regular progress updates to clients and senior management.
- Foster positive relationships with external stakeholders, including local governments and communities.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and performance metrics.
- Implement and maintain robust project control systems.
- Manage procurement processes, including issuing RFQs and RFPs.
- Oversee logistics planning for project sites to ensure seamless operations.
Role Details:
- Two weeks annual vacation included in hourly compensation
- Additional unpaid time off may be available depending on workload.
- Office-based work: 8–10 hours/day.
- On-site rotational work: Up to 12 hours/day, depending on the project phase.
- Paid travel time: Up to 8 hours/day.
- Flexible scheduling with advanced notice for time off.
Requirements:
Our client is seeking an individual with a proven track record of project leadership and technical expertise who can demonstrate:
- At least 10 years’ relevant engineering or construction experience
- A minimum of five years’ experience in project management roles.
- A degree qualification in an engineering / technical discipline
- (Ideally) Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation or PMP certification
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- (Ideally) familiarity with mining-specific software
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and risk management skills.
- Knowledge of various contract models and scheduling techniques.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel internationally.
