This position will focus on the setup and start-up of automation equipment, requiring strong expertise in electrical systems and PLC programming.
The Position:
Established for over 100 years, our client is a European manufacturer of machinery and automated lines for packing, palletizing and handling. The company designs, develops and produces customized solutions for turnkey projects throughout the world and the successful candidate for this opening will be responsible for ensuring successful machine setup, adhering to company guidelines, and working closely with the Project Manager to meet project goals. Key responsibilities will include:
- Executing machine setup tasks, including PLC programming (ladder and structured text) for major PLC systems (Rockwell, Siemens, BCR).
- Setting up communication buses, VFD programming, and network switches.
- Managing upstream and downstream interlocks with third-party equipment.
- Integrating automation peripherals such as labelers, checkweighers, barcode readers, and vision cameras.
- Interpreting electrical schematics and ensuring correct electrical setups.
- Coordinating with corporate Project Managers and client supervisors to ensure timely and effective project execution.
- Participating in pre-commissioning activities at company headquarters and overseeing the start- up process at customer sites.
- Documenting setup processes and provide training for operators and supervisors on the equipment’s use.
The Candidate:
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in automation setup.
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming (ladder and structured text).
- Experience with C++ programming, JavaScript, servomotors, and robotics (valuable).
- A bachelor’s degree qualification in engineering (automation, industrial, electronics, or industrial automation).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
- A willingness to travel frequently.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
