Our client is currently seeking an innovative Purchasing Manager to lead its procurement team as it continues to grow and expand its presence in the industry.
The Position:
The appointed Purchasing Manager will oversee the company’s sourcing capabilities and supply chain, finding and evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts, and acquiring the most cost-efficient deals without compromising on quality. A key function of this role will be to build the procurement function from the ground up, leveraging extensive experience and best practices, with key responsibilities to include:
- Monitoring supply chain dynamics for strategic purchasing direction.
- Managing supplier and stakeholder relationships in procurement projects.
- Understanding the legal, risk, and business implications of contracts.
- Negotiating commercial agreements with suppliers.
- Managing contract repository and execution with legal partnership.
- Presenting contracting strategies to stakeholders and management, coordinating contract milestones and deliverables, and evaluating contract performance for compliance.
- Conducting make/buy analysis for insourcing/outsourcing decisions.
- Prioritizing cost savings through productivity and improvement initiatives.
- Negotiating pricing, schedule, and terms with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Tracking and reporting key metrics for expense reduction and effectiveness improvement.
- Interviewing, screening, and documenting potential subcontractors, suppliers, and material suppliers.
- Developing and overseeing bidding process effectiveness.
- Working with Accounts Payable and Engineering for budget management and escalations.
- Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Managing the RFQ process with stakeholder and technical input.
- Overseeing risk management for supply contracts.
- Building out a Procurement team if needed.
Requirements:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related.
- 7+ years of related experience.
- The ability to support and lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success in leading the negotiation of large-scale contracts over $5M.
- An understanding of supply chain financials and supply chain dynamics.
- Demonstrated success in overseeing spend categories or overall supplier management.
- The ability to model various business scenarios and analyze resulting costs, impacts, risks, and benefits to inform and recommend business solutions.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments concurrently while still meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
